Hey juicy people,

Ever since ‘R U OK‘ day I have been thinking a lot about our emotions and emotional responses to cleansing.

The truth is there is a lot of symptoms you can experience when fasting or cleansing that show you that your cleanse is working and you are clearing out what no longer serves you.

One aspect of cleansing that is often left by the wayside is the emotional response.

I’m not talking about a few tears because you can’t chow down on that delicious bagel, I mean experiencing some really profound, deep rooted emotions.

And why does this happen? Let me get a bit brainy and put my science hat on now.

Our bodies can store and experience our emotions physically. Have you ever wondered why your stomach drops when you are in shock, or why you have tears when you are sad, or even why your breath quickens when you are afraid?

“A feeling sparked in our mind-or body-will translate as a peptide being released somewhere. [Organs, tissues, skin, muscle and endocrine glands], they all have peptide receptors on them and can access and store emotional information. This means the emotional memory is stored in many places in the body, not just or even primarily, in the brain. “  Dr. Candace Pert.

If you don’t know already, we are SUPER into cleansing, so we made a list of the top four ways to help deal with emotional reactions to cleansing.

1. Surrender. Surrender. Surrender.
The whole point of a Juice Cleanse is to release toxicity, both emotionally and physically. So if you’re having a strong emotional reaction, try to sit with it. You can even try to meditate and go deeper so you can deal with these stored emotions once and for all.

2. Look for support
It’s so important to take some time while doing a Juice Cleanse to be by yourself and relax, however it is also important that you don’t isolate yourself. Pencil in a gentle walk with a friend, or sit in the sunshine with a family member!

3. Take nourishing actions to support your cleanse
Some of the best things you can do to help accelerate the detoxification process and release stored emotions while you are cleansing include:

  • Dry body brushing
  • Massage
  • Using a salt scrub
  • Bathing in bath salts and essential oils
  • Tongue scraping
  • Getting some vitamin D
  • Stretching

4. Start of slow
Sometimes a huge amount of change can be very stressful for the body, which is why we suggest taking it slow. We almost always recommend that first time cleansers start off with a Drink ’til Dusk Bundle. Our Drink ‘til Dusk four pack bundles are the perfect way to blitz your body by kicking of the detoxification process gently by following your cleanse with a wholesome salad once the sun goes down. And don’t forget, our team are always here to walk you through anything you might be experiencing during your cleanse!

Infinite love,
