You may or may not know that in our ‘other business’ life, we work closely with Cowboy Don Tolman, promoting his events in Australia and his Self Care products online for distribution globally.

Last week we left our beloved juice kitchen in the very good hands of our team as we travelled the country with Don, sharing with more than 3,000 people the benefits of ‘self care’ and plant wholefoods as medicine.

Our work with Don was our key inspiration for creating the The Cleanse Kitchen.

Over the years we’ve seen time and time again the healing power of fasting and the impact that embracing living juices and wholefoods has on people’s health.

We wanted to create premium bottles of living juice (what we refer to as “liquid sunshine”) so that it was easy for people on the Gold Coast to access and experience it’s benefits on a daily basis.

You CAN heal yourself from all kinds of sickness and dis-ease with whole foods and juice fasting or cleansing.

And at the very least, there’s nothing better that you can do for your health than start your day with a fix of cold pressed, living juice – before you put anything else into your body.

Going on the road with Don for a huge national tour breathed so much new life into our work and we’re more inspired than ever to continue spreading the powerful message of Self Care.

We couldn’t possibly put all down all the things we’ve learned from Don in one blog post, but we thought we’d jot down the three most important things that Don shared

1. To heal different body parts, eat foods that look like them

Now we know this may sound a little funny when you first hear it, but each whole food resembles and targets a part of your human body.

This wisdom relates back to “The Doctrine of Signatures” that contends that plant foods each contain a pattern or ‘sign of nature’ (Signature) that resembles a body organ or physiological function.

It also states that this pattern acts as a signal or sign, as to the benefit this particular food provides the individual who consumes that food.

This study reaches all the way back to Roman times where it was called the “Law of Similarities”.

Today it’s commonly referred to by scientists as “Teleological Nutritional Targeting.”

‘Let Food be they Medicine and Medicine be thy Food’ ~ Hippocrates

For example, an Avocado looks like a womb with a swollen seed inside just like a woman who is pregnant. And astoundingly, it takes 9 months for an Avo to grow from blossom to ripen fruit. And today it’s been scientifically proven and makes complete sense, that the ‘good’ fats contained in Avos are great for the health of the feminine reproductive system.

Slice a carrot and it looks just like the human eye. You’ll see a pupil, iris and radiating lines. And it’s backed by science that today shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

The list goes on…it’s so fascinating when you learn about every food.

2. Being Healthy is DIRT simple

With medical science muddying the waters and turning health care into a massive industry, being healthy is made out to be confusing and complex.

What we learned from Don is that the 7 principles of health that revolve around, fresh AIR, clean WATER, SUNSHINE, WHOLEFOODS, WALKING, NON-TOXIC RELATIONSHIPS and PASSION are as simple as it gets if you want to live a happy, healthy, dis-ease free life.

3. The fastest way to heal is to FAST!

Here are some words of wisdom from Don Tolman:

“Fasting has existed since the beginning of life on earth. An ill or injured animal’s first instinct is to abstain from solid food until it is again healthy. They instinctively know that the healing process will be much faster and more effective when it abstains from solid food that will burden its digestive tract.

This instinct has always existed within the animal Kingdom. The human body also has this same instinct, for it is common for most people to stop eating when illness strikes. Put simply, fasting allows the body to direct all its energy to healing”.

Yikes, it makes me want to do a juice cleanse right now!

There’s no doubt the self care revolution is really here. After an exhilarating week away, we’ve come back to The Cleanse Kitchen and have this week been pouring our hearts into our amazing bottles of juice.

Thankyou for sharing this journey with us.

Have a beautiful weekend!

Yep, they were the first RAW foodies, but don’t throw away your pots and pans just yet!

Now let me just put my history hat on for a moment, to eat raw meant something entirely different to what it does today, the word raw actually comes from the word Ra, the Ancient Egyptian sun god.

Basically, to eat raw meant that you were honouring the different temperatures of the sun and the seasons. Sweet huh!

When you eat seasonally, your body is in harmony with the temperatures and the seasons and not creating a disharmony in your body.

Now if Ancient Egyptians don’t do it for you, there are plenty of other reasons why eating seasonally (when you can) will benefit your body and your pocket!

1. Flavour

Have you ever bitten into a orange when it was in season and it was the juiciest, most delicious experience ever? BEST. There’s a reason behind that. Wholefoods that have been left to ripen with the seasons have an optimal flavour, they are the crispiest, juiciest and most fragrant that they’ll ever be (unless someone is messing around with GMO’s… Monsanto *cough cough*).

2. Nutrition

All plants get their nourishment from both the sun and the soil, and seasonal means that the fruit has been picked when it’s fully developed and ripe. Once it’s completely ripe it will have had more sun exposure than it’s counterparts, resulting in a higher level of anti-oxidants and trace nutrients. And the healthier the plant, the more nutritional quality it will have or your body. Seasonal food also doesn’t have to travel as far to get to you (think imported dragon fruit), so it’s in it’s prime when it gets to your plate.

3. Affordability

Have you ever bought asparagus out of season? Those delicious, spikey sprigs of goodness are worth the 2 billion dollars they cost, but still, it hurts the pocket. Seasonal foods are the most abundant, and thus the price of them drops, so you can enjoy the most delicious fruit or veg, at the cheapest price!

4. Environmental viability

If produce is in season, it can grow with little additional assistance (think pesticides and GMO’s… just for a second). Both pesticides and GMO’s corrupt our health and the soil, and they cause environmental damage on a massive scale.

Now don’t get me wrong, we aren’t a bunch of ‘seasonal’ militant’s about to judge you because we only ever eat seasonal wholefoods. At the end of the day we all just do our best, we eat seasonally whenever we can but we do also occasionally enjoy asparagus in May! Wholefoods are the best right!

So, what’s in season right now?

Some of my favourite fruits and veggies are in season right now, and while we love all of our juices equally, we like to make sure we include the ones jam packed with seasonal whoelfoods whenever we can!

Don’t miss our seasonal juices:

Melon Crush

Ginger Snap

Sunrise

Fireball

That’s all for today!

Don’t take offence here but um, are you a Skinny Bitch?!

I’m not kidding you, Skinny Bitch, a New York Times best seller and the first of quite a few in the “skinny bitch” series, written by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin was a game changer for me. So much so, that I’ve bought countless copies for friends and family (you’re welcome guys!) and I truly believe that EVERYONE should read it.

That’s why I decided to run a little promo.. with every 3 Day Cleanse purchased before 5pm Saturday 8th November, I’m going to give you your very own copy. A new one too.. not one that I’ve already read and passed around the neighbourhood.

Here’s what I suggest.. If you’ve already read it, read it again. If you’ve still got your copy, give the free one I’m giving you to a friend that needs to read it. (That’s ALL your friends btw).

Here is a quick synopsis of Skinny Bitch written by the lovely ladies themselves:

“A no-nonsense, tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous! There is a common misconception that Skinny Bitch is all about deprivation. Nothing could be further from the truth. Skinny Bitch is the lifestyle we live, and rest assured, we would never maintain it if we felt deprived. Whether it’s shopping for food, talking about food, thinking about food, dreaming about food, cooking food, or eating food, we can’t get enough. We devised the Skinny Bitch plan so we could have our cake and eat it!

BTW: A Skinny Bitch is someone who enjoys food, eats well, and loves her body as a result. It has nothing to do with how much you weigh or what size you are! Skinny Bitches come in all beautiful shapes and sizes!”

So don’t mess around because I’ve only got a few copies left and I don’t want you to miss out. Order your 3 Day Cleanse here today and we’ll get your FREE book posted out at the same time.

Chat soon!

Inga.

P.S. Reading a book as life changing at Skinny Bitch during a cleanse is really the perfect time, it will set you up for your new healthy life like nothing else! If you just won’t to purchase the book, that’s ok too. Its $25 and you can get it here

We know there’s so much information out ‘there’ that it can all be confusing and inconclusive and even at times over whelming, so even though we are a little biased, we’re here to try and answer your questions, put your mind at ease and hopefully even get you all juiced up!

So about those Pro’s and <del>Pro’s</del> Con’s… Starting with the Pro’s of course.

People choose a Juice Cleanse for a variety of reasons.

Lets list some of them here.

to detoxify after a period of unhealthy eating

to jump start a diet

for increased mental clarity

radiant complexion

healthy hair and nails

a boost of energy when lethargy has taken hold

re-boot your body from the inside, giving your self time to heal and repair

restore your sleep patterns

a time of mediation and grounding

to deal with a particular health issue without harmful or unknown side effects from medication

We researched for years and years (ok, slight exaggeration, more like hours and hours on google if that helps) looking for con’s about Juice Cleansing and really, all we keep coming back to is the same few things.

You might miss chewing. (During a cleanse, we advise you to ‘chew not chug’ on your juices. Enough said)

You might think you’re hungry. (You’re most likely bored and restless- a herbal tea, a glass of water or even a walk will prove it)

You might feel crap on about Day 2 (Thats because those toxins you’ve been suppressing are finally being released so this is actually a WIN)

Constipated? Drink water, ingest natural fibre mix (we can help you with this) or arrange to have a colonic (WIN, WIN, WIN)

And the big one.. You’re going to put back on ALLL the weight you lost anyway. To this we say, if you were considering doing a juice fast to lose weight only, there are other, better ways to do that.

So in short, a Juice Cleanse made with fresh Cold Pressed fruits and vegetables leaves you feeling satisfied and refreshed, not to mention provides nourishment to your body and detoxifies for your tissues.

My time is up. Welcome (back) to our website and blog .. if something here resonated, informed or humoured you, please do make a comment or share the love.

Love Inga x
